THE humble lemonade stand has been revived in the name of charity by students at a Dandenong North school.
Rosewood Downs Primary School grade-one students have sold about 1200 glasses of lemonade to help buy water wells for villages in Cambodia.
Teacher Lindsay Campbell said the students had learned through their Asian studies course that many Cambodian people did not have clean water.
"To raise the money for a well to provide clean water, we tried to make a connection to how lucky we are that all families in Australia have clean water and taps," Mr Campbell said.
"We decided to make fresh traditional lemonade and call it 'Get Well' Lemonade."
The students searched for recipes, made posters and filmed advertisements.
"We have been selling at lunchtime, with children bringing along their 50c for a glass of fresh lemonade," he said.
The students raised $600 for the Tabitha Foundation in four days, almost enough to buy four wells.
