PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Anti-Corruption Unit chairman Om Yintieng said Tuesday's court ruling to release four detained land ministry officials on bail meant the court had accepted the charges.

"Lawyers were able to guarantee their clients," the senior minister said. "The court saw the charge made by Anti-Corruption Unit as the central violation."

Earlier Tuesday, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court ruled that the four officials from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction could be released temporarily.

The ruling by Judge Leang Sam Nath followed the arrest of the four last Thursday on charges of cheating others for individual profit.

In a statement last Friday, the Ministry said an investigation committee had found that they were behind corrupt deals involving land concessions to military families.

The four are Finance Department Director Pho Vuthy, Sa Reth Boramy, deputy director general of the General Department of Land Management, Tuy Lay Rithy, deputy finance director and bureau chief Meas Ey Sara.
