PHNOM PENH, 18th May 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - The ruling Cambodian People’s Party as well as the opposition Sam Rainsy and Human Rights parties launched their campaigns for next month's commune elections with parades on Friday.

"Political parties started their election campaigns as planned but no big parades have been staged," said Tep Nitha, secretary general of the National Election Committee. "They held gatherings before spreading to their campaign targets."

About 10,000 CPP activists gathered at Koh Pich for a speech by Municipal Governor Kep Chuktema, who chairs the Phnom Penh branch of the party. The speech was to be followed by a parade with 132 vehicles and 2,027 motorcyles.

Party officials said the parade was expected to pass through all nine districts and 96 sangkats in the capital.

Elsewhere in Phnom Penh, activists from the Sam Rainsy Party, whose leader is in exile in France, gathered at a park in front of Wat Botoum for a separate parade. About 7,000 activists took part, secretary general Ker Sovanaroth said.

About 300 activists from the Human Rights Party meanwhile gathered at party headquarters in Toul Kok district. A parade joined by party president Kem Sokha was planned with 25 trucks, 10 cars and 80 motorcycles, party officials said.l

The campaign by 10 parties is scheduled to last for two weeks. The seven other parties contesting the elections are the Norodom Ranariddh Party, Funcinpec, the League for Democracy Party, the Khmer National Party of Cambodia, the Democratic Movement Party, the Democratic Republican Party and the Khmer Anti-Poverty Party.

Why are those CPP folks using the light blue color on their CPP flags like SRP flag?

Are those CPP dogs and supporters trying to confuse and manipulate the general or ordinary Khmer people?

Don't vote for CPP, a slavery group of Yuon/Vietnamese masters. They are very evil CPP dogs of Vietnamese masters who destroy Cambodian/Khmer nation and people.

Again and again, don't vote for CPP. We Khmer people, can vote for HRP, SRP, NRP and other opposition parties and then we will merge as one Democracy Party to defeat Communist CPP that is a Vietnamese puppet party coming from Viet/Yuon masters in Hanoi, Vietnam.
