BEIJING, May 8, 2012 (Xinhua) -- He Guoqiang, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official, met with Keo Puth Rasmey, chairman of Cambodia's Funcinpec Party, in Beijing on Tuesday.

He, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, applauded the two countries' traditional friendship, substantial cooperation in all areas and close coordination in international and regional affairs.

President Hu Jintao's visit to Cambodia earlier this year promoted the China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic relationship, as well as relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and regional cooperation, said He, who is also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

In regards to the party-to-party relationship, He said he hoped the two parties would continue to maintain high-level contacts, strengthen exchanges on experience in national governance and conduct more coordination and cooperation on international and regional affairs, so as to promote the development of the two countries' relations.

Rasmey said the traditional friendship with China is a shared treasure among the Cambodian government, parties and people. The Funcinpec Party attaches great importance to its relations with the CPC.

Rasmey said all sides in Cambodia will cherish and endeavor for the development of a good-neighborly relationship and cooperation with China, and all sides will implement the consensus reached by President Hu and Cambodian leaders, so as to push forward the bilateral strategic ties of cooperation.
