Crown announces plans to construct aluminum beverage can plant in Cambodia

Tuesday, 22 May 2012

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Crown has planned to construct a new aluminum beverage can manufacturing facility in Sihanoukville of Cambodia.

The plant helps to meet the rising demand for the packaging products in the region. Sihanoukville is located on the Gulf of Thailand and it is Cambodia’s major commercial port. The new plant will be the company’s second beverage can facility in Cambodia and it will house several can production lines. It will have an initial aluminum can manufacturing capacity of 725 million 2 piece 33cl units per year. The Sihanoukville plant is anticipated to commence operation in Q3 of 2013.

Mr Jozef Salaerts president of Crown Asia Pacific said that Cambodia is developing consistently which in turn has caused the increased demand for the products of Crown’s customers. The company experiences a preference for 2 piece aluminum beverage cans from its customers. The company has signed a long term agreement with a major brewer as a part of its new investment project. The current expansion represents the company’s commitment to support the increasing needs of its regional and worldwide clients and to aid them to establish their brands in Cambodia.”
