- Here are the military comparisons between Cambodia and Siam that I observed:
1. They had some good J-39 Gripens, F-16 A, ok F-5 , ok Alpha Jets, average Albotross jets, a lot of utilities helicopters, some Cobra attack helicopters. [Read: Cambodia Army vs. Thai Army].
2. The had 100% advantage on us in the sea, we had nothing comparable excepts some fast attack boats.
3. They had ground forces which outnumber us, but most Khmer soldiers are way more experienced and battle hardened than them, so one Khmer soldiers can fight 3 Thai soldiers.
4. They had less capable MBT tanks, but more tanks in general. They had similar number of APCs.
5. They had better French made artillery systems. We had older but capable artilleries, the formidable BM-21.
6. We had similar small arms weapons.
7. We perfected small pit battles and they only experienced those battles in training.
8. We had better guerrilla tactics and they can't even counter small Muslims in their southern borders.
We will bleeds them more than Viets and kick them back to Yunan, China. I hope no war and ICJ grand us justices.

Cambodian army no match for Thai army

In case the war start one day, we Khmer have more trust to the Khmer Krom and we have the full rigth to include our Khmer Krom (serve in the Vietnam Army) into the Royal Cambodian Army Forces to fight again the Thai.
What about the Khmer Surin, will they also fight for the country of their ancestors "Cambodia" like our Khmer Krom.
We Khmer have not much trust to our brother/sisters Khmer Surin, that they are ready to fight again the Thai agressor.
It's not has to do with what weapons we have or they have. It has to do with how well and how willingly we fight. Just look at Vietnam War per se.
From what I had learned is that our Khmer Arm Forces can't hold the Siam thieves from taking main metropolitant cities like Phnom Penh. They will attack us with may be four main thrusts, Preah Vihear area, Battambang areas, Seim Reap areas, Koh Kong areas with their marines.
Here are ways we must fight them:
1. We must prepare for a long Guirella war, by splitting our forces all over Cambodia countryside. Attack their communication lines, their economy.
2.We also must nfiltrated Thailand itself to help the Muslim southernThai borders.
3. We must make sure any puppet government they set up must be destroy.
4. We must armed ourselves with a lot of most modern MANPADS. these anti-air are very cheap and effective against their attack helicopters, utilities helicopters, Alpha Jets, L-39, F-5 even low flying F-16A. The few
J-39 Gripens can be difficult to bring down. Also armed ourselves with a lot of anti-tank missiles. Latest RPG rocket is very effective against their tanks.
5. We must make their life miserable in Cambodia. Gentlemen the Thai thieves are not even close to toughness as the Viets.
6. Pray NO WAR and UN demand Thai obey International laws.

It is true Cambodia has the determination to fight, but with Thailand outnumbering us in everything, from troop numbers to weaponry, especially air power, I don't see how our strong determination can hold on to the onslaught of Thai air power if full scale war beaks out.
Thai troops outnumbered Cambodian troops 3 to1 and the weapons, the tanks (over 1000), the artillery, the air force (about 300 fighter jets, mainly F-16s), helicopters (about over 1000), strong navy (Thailand got many warships and one aircraft carrier, better than Russia, Canada, Italy and other big economic powers which didn't have one) and the sophisticated communication and intelligence systems, well trained and provided by America, would just make it so easy for Thailand to crush Cambodia in less than a week.
In term of Cambodia's military capability, I would say that we are no match with Thailand's well trained and well-equipped army.
We have about 140,000 poorly-trained and poorly-equipped army. And mainly most of the well-trained and well-equipped soldiers are Hun Sen's bodyguards who are stationed around Hun Sen's compounds and main cities to protect Hun Sen's power, not stationing along the border to defend Cambodia's territorial integrity.
We have no warplane, a few small navy vessels bought from China, less than 200 BM-21 rocket launchers, reportedly bought from Vietnam, a few old helicopters, may be about 200-300 tanks.
Based on the above comparisons, I think Thai troops would just drive in, no need to fight on the ground because their superior air powers would just destroy Cambodian troops from the air along the way as they move in, like what American troops did in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Despite saying this, I would still say that our troops would fight to protect our territory with bravery and with their life.
Only Hun Sen would lead our innocent poor front line soldiers into war and ultimately their death. While the fancy rich elite soldier members continue to stock and rape our karaoke singers. Hun Sen will beg China and Vietnamese to intervene. Thailand going to war with Hun Sen is a blessing. They will De-throne Hun Sen`s power and he will ultimately receive the same fate as his best buddy Thaskin.
Don't underestimate our enemy. They can probably capture all of our city with their military power. To be honest with your folks on here. I don't think Cambodian can win a war against the Thais. They have more military spending than us with more supply unit and we over here is poor with less supply unit that would probably last about a months or so. So we can't risk going to war with them
I don't believe Thailand can take over Cambodia that easy. Just look at the way they fought around the boarder. They had used all kind of Special Forces and they did not accomplish anything. Their troops lack of experiences and their commend lack of leadership skills (art of the general). Their artilleries were not affective. They had fired more twenty thousand rounds, include the use cluster bombs, they did hid a singe Cambodian troop. Those Cambodian troops who killed and wounded were fought in a close battle. I would count out their artilleries’ effectiveness. We have not seen their Armored Division (tanks) in close battle, but I doubt that they have capability to make headway into Cambodia without great loses. I know Cambodian troops love to blow up tanks. They have so much experience with this tactical maneuver. Those tanks will be stop on the spot.
Their air force is a lot smaller compare to the U.S during bombardment in Cambodia in the 60’s and the 70’s. If the US could not break the Khmer Rouge forces, I very much doubt that Thailand can break Phnom Penh forces which are a lot stronger.
Again, their Navel Forces are too small compare to the U.S during the 60’s and 70’s. They are good for use in defend but not in offend.
Just before this conflict, many Western analogists believe that Thailand will beat Cambodia in a very battle. I was laughing at them. I think they are just a bunch of idiots. I wonder if the Vietnam War did not still spit at them on their face, at least should be designated in their mind.
Before the Thai sends in the ground infantry the entire Cambodia military bases,more likely, will be decimated by the bombardment of Thai Air Force and Navy -- the aircraft carrier and handful of submarines are station nearby at the gulf of Thailand miles away from Khmer coastline. After its military arsenals, logistic, and provision completely destroy within days, Hun Sen's arm force will eventually give up in submission of defeat before even the ground war initiated. [If]in the scenario of a blow-out war with Thailand, Vietnam will drag in with military help backing its crony regime, while China will persue political maneuvers pressuring Thai to cease fire. If Cambodia is to become a Geo-political battle field between the Viet and the Thai, Khmer kingdom will face division and that will promise the end of Cambodia.
The guerrilla warfares of "The Art of War" used by Vietcong general Diep to outwitted in Vietnam War against the American in the 60's will not work well with the under-equip and unwell-trained Hen Sen armies unless with China full pledge of involvements.Lastly, the recent gonging regarding the land area surround the temple from Bangkok is a repetition the instability of Thai's internal affairs that uses Khmer-Thai border conflicts as a pretext to distort its people from their political turmoil within factions. There will be small scale crashes as we've had seen in recent past, but not an all out war.

The old Navel forces and Air force that Thailand has to fight with, I doubt that they can make around O’clock bombardment. They need at least 300 missions per day for a month with at least 500 hundred fighter jets. Thailand air force and navy do not have this capacity.
Their Army (ground forces) did not do well in battle with Cambodia at Preah Vihear. How can someone say that they do have more experience then the Cambodian forces that have more then 30 years in battles’ experiences?

1. Siam ground forces are cowards and lay back frontline troops. They learned from the U. S and look how well the U. S do in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ruined American economy.

They fought Laos and lost, Burma, Malaysia, now us. They also got killed everyday at their southern border against few illed equips Muslims.
3. Our army weapons have improved since 2008, Hun Sen had been quietly equipped our forces. Half of Hun Sen's body guard units are at Siam border. We had more rockets, small arms munitions, artillery shells from Eastern European, China.
4. Don't under estimated our experienced, battle harden troops. You idiot must know that a human heart, determination is also weapons. My cousin said during fighting many Khmer Surine soldiers ran back to their villages. Thai peoples had no desired to killed or go to war with their neighbors. Determination and experience alone does NOT win a war; you need capable weapons, battle strategies, and more importantly adequate and continued supplies (ammunitions and food). LOL, that is why Thailand have loss the war against Laos whose popolation and firepower is only a fraction of yours.
Do NOT forget that in the second world war, Thailand with its so_called "almightly" power, decided to surrender to the Japanese without a fight, and also became their coward allies. You should be greatful that the British, the French and the U.S. didn't hold Thailand to account with the Japanese.

Does this statement make you less of a coward? NO! The RCAF wants frontline soldiers, that is why they’re looking at legislating national service/drafting. RCAF may reject you if you want to be a commander or general.
You should try to understand the comments before you bark the same old hypocritical ideas of yours.
Given what we currently have (time to prepare, and hardware), the government can do a lot; but they are more worrying about directing the national resources into their OWN individual pockets rather than directing them to the rightful place for the national interests. As shown in the recent conflicts, the families of frontline soldiers who’ve paid their ultimate sacrifice for the country did not even get their salary entitlements because their superiors has kept it for themselves.
So when we raise the disparities, we were merely pointed out that the government should do more to equip our frontline soldiers so that they have a better chance of survival and ultimately defend the country, we still have time to be ready!
So, rather than spruiking your line of “here is an AK47 and a spare magazine, and go defend your country”, why don’t you try to raise awareness that our frontline troops needs more resources in preparation for the event of full scale war.

Thailand lost the war against Laos because of the Vietnam army stationed and protected all important vital areas in Laos. Laos army were able to focus in the small area of conflict using the superior tactics from the Vietnamese advisers.
If Cambodia wants to have a repeat such as Laos, then Cambodia needs Vietnamese troops to protect its vital areas or else Thailand will just roll right over with their superior weapons.
You have a very wrong idea thinking that Cambodian soldier is not well-trained. We might not have much weaponry... but tactic, i can assure you.

First of all our army now or in future generation will alway be for defensive purpose to deter aggression from the viet or the thai so our army do not need to have parity with thai or viet army. thai army may have more modern jet planes more modern tanks more modern copters that for sure but for their army personel only motivation is full scale invasion of cambodia to take our land. this kind of motivation is not a strenght of any major army actual it is a foundation of a very weak army, all it take just take down several hundred death will cause a ripple effect down the rank.
